Here's what people are saying about Monster Attack Team, Issue 8:

I appreciate the efforts and knowledge of the Monster Attack Team in keeping the tokusatsu genre alive in the U.S. It’s reassuring that a lot of time is spent in researching old and new material. Hope that you keep up your fine work, and keep supplying information to the new generations.

- Ban Daisuke

"Where the current MAT shines is that the issue is packed with page after page of thoroughly researched, well-written articles… as MG Keller explains in his opening editorial the goal was to run 'real, quality articles' rather than 'fanwank'. MAT #8 absolutely succeeds in that regard, and is strongly recommended for any fans interested in learning about the who, what, where, and why of this genre."

- Keith Aiken, Sci-Fi Japan

"From the photos at the magazine's website, the graphics and layouts in the magazine shows an exciting flair. There's nothing stodgy-looking about it from what I can see."

- Armand Vaquer, Monster Island News

"It really does look incredible, and maintains the same high standard throughout. While I certainly haven't read everything, it's just packed with interesting stuff, and all very well presented."

- Contributor Dr. Robert J. Kiss

"I really like the layout... It looks very 'pro' unlike some of what you see in fanzines. I can tell you worked very hard on this."

- Contributor Brad Warner

I can’t recommend the magazine enough.  Every article by every contributor just radiates so much passion and knowledge of their particular subject.  It is hard not to feel it and get caught up in their enthusiasm.  And there is such an amazing array of subjects covered in the magazine.  MAT does not just focus on one character or one type of Japanese pop culture.  There is something new to learn all through it and you may find yourself wanting to look into something you hadn’t thought you’d be interested in before.  Read it from cover to cover.  Then try to pick a favorite article.  Good luck.  There are that many great pieces inside.

Just wanted to let you know that I received MAT #8 upon returning home from GFest.  It looks great, and the quality and detail of the articles is just what I was hoping it would be.  Looking forward to any future editions.

I've already started on a few of the articles -- a really incredible, beautifully designed issue. Congratulations and おめでとうございます!

132 pages of awesome.

MAT Issue 8 was better than all those lousy mainstream magazines put together! It was even better than the various anime and monster mags, because they often treated tokusatsu hero shows like an after-thought! As such, your publication was a dream-come-true to those of us who adore such programs!

Well I finally got my copy of this issue and I must say I'm very impressed. I was expecting a typical style fanzine, but its more of a book with plenty of bright full color pictures. It's very glossy and professional looking. The cornucopia of articles is pretty great too, ranging from The Last Dinosaur to Gappa to foreign movie posters of the various Godzilla and Kaiju films, to interviews to articles about super-heroes like Kikaida and Kamen etc. etc.

My favorite articles are David McRobie's article on Kikaida, August Ragone's article on Kamen, Mike Keller's article on the proposed American Ultraman movie that never was. his fascinating interview with Tak Sakaguchi (this guy took out a bear!), Robert Kiss's article on the Venus Fly Trap, Bob Johnson's article on an underrated gem Gappa, and Steve Ryfle's fascinating behind the scenes article on the Godzilla documentary "Bringing Godzilla Down to Size".

But this is just the tip of the iceberg. I found every article to be a fascinating read, and I can't stress enough how great the full color photos look. I'm already re-reading the issue!

If any of you guys are remotely interested in Japanese science fiction and fantasy films I highly recommend this issue.
